Thomas Jacob Freeman has been ranked fourth in the U.S. in the Hammer Throw according to Track & Field News after being ranked tenth last season. Freeman finished right behind Manhattan graduate Paddy McGrath '95. Track & Field News based their rankings on athletes' performances at elite meets during the 2003 outdoor season.
Freeman earned his ranking based upon his performances at the three major meets he competed in during the outdoor season. At the Penn Relays (68.53m) where he placed fifth, USA Track & Field Championships (70.08m) where he finished fourth, and the Mid Summer Games where he earned third place (71.72m).
Freeman holds the US National Junior Record in the 16lb. Hammer Throw (65.89m) while sophomore
Michael Freeman, younger brother of Jacob, holds the US National Junior Record in the 6-kilogram Hammer (67.06m) after his toss in the 2003 National Junior Championships.
Michael will compete this Friday, December 12 at 5 p.m. at the Fordham Invitational. Thomas, who has one season of eligibility left, will compete again during the 2004 Outdoor season.
