THIELLS, NY (October 29, 2002) - The Manhattan College golf team tallied a two-round score of 640 to finish in third at the St. Thomas Aquinas Invitational held at the Philip J. Rotella Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday afternoons.
The Jaspers, who won the tournament title last year, finished 13 strokes back of Fairleigh Dickinson, which won the crown with a two-round tally of 627. Host St. Thomas Aquinas placed second with a combined score of 630.
Senior
Chris Damiano (Scarsdale, NY) and junior Martin Tobias (Yonkers, NY) tied for sixth in the individual competition, shooting a 13-over-par 157 for the two-day tournament. Sophomore
Patrick Rizzotti (Floral Park, NY) tied for 14th with three other golfers with a score of 162 (+18) and junior
Jay Wiederlight (Southold, NY) and sophomore
Tim Hand (Yonkers, NY) finished 25th and 26th, respectively.
The golf team has now concluded its slate of fall matches and will resume play in the spring.
