MIDDLETOWN, NY – The Manhattan Men's and Women's Cross Country programs competed in their new home, the Blue Sky Sports Complex, in the Jaspers Fall XC Invite on Saturday morning.
The site also marks the new home for the Metro Conference Cross Country Championships in October, hosted by the Manhattan Jaspers.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- On the Men's side for the Green and White, sophomore Brody Cox posted a 25:59.7 for a Top 30 finish.
- Freshman Towler Scott logged his first collegiate completion with a 26:12.3.
- Meanwhile, junior Joshua Mingoia and freshman Matthew Hauser posted times of 26:39.9 and 26:41.2, respectively.
- On the Women's side for Manhattan, senior Julia Hendricks paced the Jaspers with a time of 22:28.2.
- Behind Hendricks was senior Bailee Christofis, with a time of 22:44.8

Head Coach Todd Witzleben: "Both our men and women had strong season-opening performances. Six underclassmen led the men in our top seven. Brody had a breakthrough race after a great summer of training. Towler surprised everyone when he took the lead of our pack at the three-mile mark. That's an impressive move for a freshman running his first collegiate 8k. Julia and Bailee have been working together all training camp, so it wasn't a surprise to see them doing the same at our first meet. They ran a wonderful race. As the season progresses, we expect we'll close the gap between our top two and our third, fourth, and fifth. The team is really coming together, and both squads will be very competitive by the Metro Championship."

The Jaspers continue the fall campaign on Friday, October 2, when the Green and White partake in the Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh University in Bethlehem on the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course.
