RIVERDALE, NY – The Manhattan Jaspers Men's Soccer team (2-3-0) fell to the Lions of Columbia University (2-1-1) by a score of 2-nil inside Gaelic Park on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Looking to build upon its commanding victory six days prior, the Green and White opened with three consecutive shots on target in as many sequences. Two of which came from Cristiano Marsilii.
- The Lions and Jaspers traded possession in the midfield before Giovanni Rivera added the final shot of the half for Manhattan 36 minutes into the match.
- In the second half, after the Lions posted the icebreaker, the Jaspers looked to bounce back and built momentum with two consecutive saves from keeper Philip Isaksson.
- Ultimately, the comeback effort was not enough, as the Lions added one additional goal, while the Green and White logged just two more shots in the final ten minutes of the fixture.
STATS AND NOTES
- Forward and reigning Metro Offensive Player of the Week Cristiano Marsilii paced the Jaspers with two shots on target in 69 minutes.
- Defender and team captain Max Asplin-Rowley logged one shot on goal in a full 90 minutes on the pitch.
- Off the bench, midfielder Giovanni Rivera added one shot on goal in 44 minutes.
- Redshirt junior forward Ziv Dahan added two shots in 69 minutes.
- Freshman goalkeeper Philip Isaksson made his collegiate debut and recorded three saves after serving as the netminder for the second half of the match.
