Donadio Posts Goal; Men’s Soccer Falls in Heartbreaker to UMass Lowell

LOWELL, MA – The Manhattan Jaspers Men's Soccer team (2-4-0) dropped a heartbreaker to the Riverhawks of UMass Lowell (4-2-2) by a score of 2:1 inside Cushing Field on Friday evening, for its final non-conference fixture of the campaign.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Green and White opened the fixture with a vengeance, with back-to-back shots on target from Tycho van Haaren and Cristiano Marsilii within three minutes.
  • The Jaspers continued to find chances, with Mouhamadou Diagne and Ziv Dahan adding to the chart through the first 15 minutes.
  • After the Riverhawks struck first toward the end of the half, the Jaspers continued to claw their way back, with chances coming out of the locker room from Marsilii and Dahan once more.
  • After Philip Isaksson's day ended at the break, Gaspar Homar relieved the freshman and made two quality stops along his line.
  • After a foul in the Jaspers' offensive midfield, Manhattan was awarded a free kick in the 85th minute, with van Haaren taking the set-piece chance and finding Nicolo Donadio on the header to equalize.
  • The Riverhawks found a way in the waning seconds to leap back in front, off a Giovanni Rivera yellow card, and the game-winning header then followed.
