RIVERDALE, N.Y. - In continued anticipation for the upcoming 2026-27 basketball season starting in November, Manhattan University's women's basketball program has added a transfer prospect in Latvian-born Amanda Baumgarte, announced by Head Coach Heather Vulin on Wednesday morning.

Splitting time across her first two seasons at Eastern Florida State College and Western Wyoming Community College, Baumgarte adds to the vast pool of international players under Vulin's tenure, as she has experience on the 3x3 national team for Latvia at the U18 World Cup.

"We are thrilled to welcome Amanda to our Jasper family. At 6'1, her length and mobility allow her to guard multiple positions, which is a hallmark of our #playGREEN culture." commented Vulin.

As a freshman at Eastern Florida State, Baumgarte started 23 of her 31 games, averaging 6.6 points while playing roughly 22 minutes per night. She also averaged above a steal per game as well, close to two assists and 3.2 rebounds.

"She is a versatile and dynamic guard/forward whose high basketball IQ and ability to score at all three levels make her a perfect fit for our system," continued Vulin.

During her sophomore season at Western Wyoming, she was named All-Region 9 North as she finished the year with the third-highest total for assists in program history with 110. In her third game of the season against Cochise College, she tallied 22 points on four-for-eight shooting from beyond the arc. Three times across her final eight games of the season, Baumgarte recorded 10 rebounds or more, including a season-high of 11 in an 80-58 win over Northeastern Junior College.

"What truly stands out is her incredible unselfishness; she is an elite facilitator for her position, consistently finding the open teammate and making everyone around her better, Amanda is a proven winner and we can't wait to see the impact her all-around game will have as we compete for MAAC Championships." concluded Vulin.
