EASTON, PA – The Manhattan Jaspers Baseball team (10-15, 4-8 MAAC) fell heartbreakingly to the Leopards of Lafayette College (7-17, 3-6 Patriot League) by a score of 6-5 inside Kamine Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Jaspers opened the non-conference game right away with three runs off an Andreaus Lewis RBI single into right field to drive home Jeremy Sosa. Then, a sacrifice fly from Trevor Hansen brought home Vincent Samuel, who had singled in his first at-bat.
- With the Jaspers occupying second and third, Dylan Mayer knocked a base hit into center to drive home Lewis for the team's third run of the afternoon.
- After the Leopards responded with two runs over the course of the next three innings, the Green and White found its rhythm once more in the fifth inning.
- Leading off the inning with a Josiah Brown walk were the Jaspers, with Leopard miscues leading the charge. Building off of the miscue, Jeremy Sosa grounded out to drive home Brown from third for the team's fourth run.
- Two batters later, with the bases loaded, Justin Best supplied a sacrifice fly to drive home Ryan Lordier from third for the team's fifth run of the game.
- Lafayette then added four unanswered runs down the stretch, highlighted by a Jasper miscue at shortstop, followed by an additional error in center to bring home the game-winning run in the home half of the ninth inning.
