STONY BROOK, NY – The Manhattan Jaspers baseball team (13-20, 6-12 MAAC) fell to the Seawolves of Stony Brook University (12-21, 8-10 CAA) by a score of 12-1 in seven innings from inside Joe Nathan Field on Tuesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Jaspers, poised to capture its rhythm from two days ago in the series-clinching victory over Siena, worked a one-out walk from Justin Best to open the game on Long Island.
- In the second inning, reigning MAAC Player of the Week Andreaus Lewis extended his hitting streak to six games with a double to right center.
- Three batters later, Hayden Jung-Goldberg sent a sacrifice fly to right field to score Lewis, with the bases loaded.
- Later, in the third inning, Ryan Lordier led off with a double down the right field line. In the fourth, Vincent Samuel knocked a base hit to center. In the sixth inning, Guriyandel Salva logged a single to center field.
STATS AND NOTES
- Relief pitcher Landon Kuntzelman retired the side in the sixth inning in his third appearance of the season.
- Infielder Ryan Lordier put together a 1-for-3 afternoon with a third-inning double. For Lordier, the double was his fourth of the season.
- Catcher Andreaus Lewis extended his hitting streak to six games with a double and crossed the plate for the Jaspers' lone run of the day. The double for Lewis marked his 10th of the year.
- Infielder Jackson Babione went 1-for-3 and was caught stealing across the way.
