LOWELL, Mass. – The Manhattan Jaspers women's lacrosse team (0-1), despite a hat trick from Julia Kerr, fell in their season-opening contest against the Riverhawks from UMass Lowell (1-0) by a final score of 13-6 at Cushing Field on Friday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Getting the start in goal for opening day was Sophie Pasnak, registering a save in the first 45 seconds.
- UMass Lowell struck first, just shy of three minutes into the game.
- Newcomer Logan Pilon tallied the first score of Manhattan's season, capitalizing off a Riverhawk turnover.
- Fellow freshman Ella Brunette earned a free position opportunity, and took advantage to give the Green and White an early lead.
- The home team collected two from Chloe Bowers to retake the lead before the end of the opening 15 minutes.
- While Audrey Ziff spent time in the penalty box, Kerr grabbed her first score with just under six minutes in the second.
- UMass Lowell ripped off four unanswered to take a six goal advantage into the break.
- Kerr and Brunette both picked up their second goals of the afternoon from free position chances, with the latter coming just under the four minute mark of the third.
- Kerr collected her hat trick all in the first half, accumulating the third to cut Manhattan's deficit to four in time for the final ten minutes.
- The Riverhawks added three more for insurance in the fourth, securing a seven goal victory.
STATS AND NOTES
- Sophomore attacker Julia Kerr scored three goals, matching the career-high she set at Stetson last season.
- Freshman midfielder Ella Brunette followed behind her with two scores.
- Freshman attacker Logan Pilon was the only other Jasper to record a goal.
- Six different Jaspers caused a turnover, in Kerr, Senior attacker Maya Metz, Senior defender Colleen Rattigan, Junior defender Meghan Dwan, and Senior attacker Lauren Maher.
- Junior midfielder Audrey Ziff led the way in winning draw controls with three.

Manhattan will continue its 2026 campaign on Wednesday, February 11 when the Jaspers travel once again to Hempstead to take on the Pride from Hofstra.
