HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The Manhattan Jaspers women's lacrosse team (0-2), finished their two-game road stint to open the 2026 season against the Pride from Hofstra by a final score of 19-5 at Captains Field on Wednesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hofstra got out to a quick start, scoring five goals in as many minutes to put the Jaspers in an early hole.
- While a man down, Julia Kerr broke the ice for Manhattan midway through the opening quarter.
- Before the opening 10 minutes were complete, Naomi Aristone, Lauren Maher, and Audrey Ziff all caused a turnover.
- Ziff won a draw control in the second frame, but the Pride extended their lead out to 13 by the halftime break.
- It was Kerr who took hold of a draw control in the third quarter, while the defense held Hofstra to two goals in time for the fourth.
- Manhattan had their best stretch in the final quarter, with Ella Brunette putting the Green and White on the board 46 seconds in.
- Maher earned a free position opportunity shortly after, converting for the visitors' third score of the day.
- Brunette tallied another while Ella Hirsch scored on a man-up sequence, ending Manhattan's total at five.
STATS AND NOTES
- Freshman midfielder Ella Brunette led with two scores, also collecting a ground ball and two draw controls.
- Sophomore attacker Julia Kerr shot the ball four times, converting on one and winning three draw controls.
- Senior attacker Lauren Maher won the most draw controls on the day with four, adding a goal to her stat line as well.
- Sophomore attacker Ella Hirsch fired the most attempts with five, converting on one for her first goal of the season.
- Senior defender Naomi Aristone caused two turnovers.
- Redshirt Junior goalkeeper Sophie Pasnak logged ten saves through a full 60 minutes.

Manhattan will continue its 2026 campaign on Wednesday, February 18 when the Jaspers open the home portion of their schedule, welcoming the Knights from FDU to Gaelic Park. Action is scheduled to take place starting at 1 PM and can be viewed on the Jasper Sports Network.
