LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – The Manhattan Jaspers women's basketball team (5-17, 5-8 MAAC), despite a career-high of 28 points from Brianna Davis, fell against the Broncs from Rider (5-17, 3-10 MAAC) by a final score of 71-60 inside Alumni Gymnasium on Thursday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Held without a basket for the first 90 seconds, Davis got the scoring started with a shot from beyond the arc to take their first lead.
- Manhattan scored 11 straight points carrying them through the first four minutes, capped off by another Davis jumper.
- Davis and Hana Mühl combined for 14 through the first ten minutes, with the former's 10 aiding the Jaspers to a 19-12 edge after the first frame.
- The first five points of quarter number two also came from the same dynamic duo, as Mühl's three point play put the visitors up nine.
- Manhattan's advantage got to 15 on multiple occasions, predated by a late run from the Broncs.
- Elisa Solé Sanchez drove inside for a layup as the buzzer rang, giving the road team an eight point edge at the break.
- Agar Farrés Garcia and Colette Mulderig both were main contributors in the third frame, as the latter kept the lead at eight midway through.
- Five unanswered points from the Broncs ended the third, trimming the margin to only three with 10 minutes to play.
- Mulderig connected on her third three-point shot of the year and first since December 19, helping the Jaspers go back up by seven with just under six minutes in regulation.
- As Rider scored nine straight to take the lead back for the first time since the score was 2-0, Davis knocked down a crucial layup through contact to tie the game with 2:20 to go.
- Over the next 80 seconds, the Broncs tallied 10 points in a row, effectively clinching the win.
