RIVERDALE, NY – The Manhattan Jaspers Men's Lacrosse team (1-3) fell to the Stags of Fairfield University (2-2) by a score of 15-9 inside Gaelic Park on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Jaspers and Stags did battle one hour behind schedule after the contest had moved back to 12 p.m. just two days ago.
- Behind two goals were the Green and White, before Nick Henry logged the team's first goal just five minutes and change, after Thomas White's initial attempt went wide.
- Then, Connor Engel joined the party with his first goal of the afternoon to narrow Fairfield's lead to just one.
- In the second quarter, trailing by two, the Jaspers began building some momentum but couldn't find the back of the net. The third chance was the elixir, with Tyler Mosca bringing the deficit back to within one.
- Four minutes later, the Stags posted their fifth goal, before Jack Miller found the back of the net to narrow Fairfield's lead to one, for the third time on the night.
- Carrying momentum down the stretch were the Green and White, with Thomas White capturing the next two goals, the tying, and go-ahead goals to head into the locker room ahead of Fairfield by one.
- Throughout the third quarter and midway into the fourth quarter, the Stags posted nine unanswered goals before Miller stopped the bleeding with a man-up opportunity to cut its opponents' lead in half.
- Casey Klossner made things interesting with his first goal of the campaign six and a half minutes in, and exactly 10 seconds after Miller's power-play goal.
- With the Stags ahead by as much as six, but in the box for slashing, the Jaspers took advantage one final time with a Thomas White power-play goal.
