ANNAPOLIS, MD – The Manhattan Jaspers Women's Golf program competed in the Navy Fall Invitational, hosted by the Midshipmen of the United States Naval Academy, this past weekend at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Club.
HOW IT HAPPENED
· The Jaspers put together a valiant effort to open the Navy Fall Invite, with
Isabella Encinas recording a birdie on the fourth hole in the windy conditions, before logging par on four of the next five holes to round out the front nine.
· On the ninth hole for
Leonie Krausse, she put together a birdie on the par-five, 465-yard hole to round out five over on the front side.
· For the Green and White on the back nine, it was Krausse who stayed the course with all but one hole with either a birdie or par to close out a strong finish in the opening round.
· On the back nine of the first round for the Jaspers, it was Krausse,
Miren Ontanon, and
Lara Dommach who performed exceptionally, with Ontanon notching a birdie on the 17
th hole, with just one bogey, to go along with another seven pars.
· In the second round, it was Ontanon who paced the field with a tough start through the first five holes but found her rhythm as the day went along with a birdie on the seventh and ninth holes, before cruising on the back nine, with a 10
th hole birdie.
· Ending the second round on a high note was Krausse, who logged par on the final five holes.
· Junior
Maddison Long posted a birdie on the sixth hole of the second round, before opening the back nine with par on three of the first four holes.

Head Coach Keith Prokop: "It was a promising finish for the ladies this week. We did not bring our "A" game in the slightest, but to be able to squeak out a fourth-place finish in a good field, shows that we can perform even in an off tournament."

The Green and White return to the fairway on Monday, October 12, and Tuesday, October 13, when the Jaspers compete in the Quinnipiac Classic, hosted by the Bobcats at The Farms Country Club in Wallingford, CT.
