LOPATCONG, NJ – The Manhattan Jaspers Women's Golf program continued its sophomore season at the Autumn Harvest, hosted by Lehigh University, in the two-day event at The Architects Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday mornings.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Coming off its practice round at windy Huntington Country Club on Long Island just days before, the Jaspers continued their strong play in North Jersey, led by Leonie Krausse, who posted two birdies and a par on five holes on the front nine in the first round.
- On the back nine, Krausse commanded through with two more birdies and a bogey-less final set of holes to finish two under par and third overall.
- Miren Ontanon opened her first day of play with a pair of pars, before landing double-bogey. The transfer showed resilience, bouncing back with a pair of birdies right away before sinking par in the final four of five on the front nine. After sinking three consecutive bogeys on the back nine, Ontanon closed out the opening round with five straight pars.
- Continuing in the first round, Beans Factor netted two birdies and sank par on 10 of the other 16 holes.
- Both Giana Zinke and Lara Dommach posted a pair of birdies in their first rounds.
- In the second round, Krausse paced the Green and White once again with seven pars on the front nine before adding two more birdies down the stretch.
- After Ontanon opened the second round with four consecutive birdies, she bounced back with five birdies in the next 10 holes for a commanding rebound.
- On Tuesday, Ontanon paced the Green and White again, adding two more birdies and making par on six of her first seven holes.
- Maddison Long, in the third round, performed exceptionally with just two bogeys and one birdie to finish two over par on the final day.
QUOTES FROM THE JASPERS
Head Coach Keith Prokop: "It was a great team performance from all six players this week. The team battled the elements and led for much of the event. It shows what we can do when we put everything together. Still have some work to do to get to our final product, but it's a great showing to showcase our capabilities."
