Men’s Soccer Drops Fixture to Fairfield on Saturday

Box Score FAIRFIELD, CT – The Manhattan Jaspers Men's Soccer team (2-6-1, 0-2-1 Metro) dropped its third conference fixture to the Stags of Fairfield University (5-1-2, 3-0-0 Metro) by a score of 3:0 on Lessing Field on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Green and White looked to bounce back after suffering a home defeat to the Bobcats one match prior.
  • After a bevy of Fairfield chances, Manhattan's Ziv Dahan recorded the first official shot roughly 19 minutes into the match, before Marko Matesic tallied the Jaspers' first shot on target towards the latter stages of the first half.
  • The Stags broke through first just 10 minutes into the second half before Khaled Daoud logged a shot towards the net.
  • Then Gio Rivera posted the team's fourth shot before Max Asplin-Rowley continued to add pressure on the Fairfield keeper.
  • The Jaspers added two more shots off Rivera's foot before the Stags added two more goals in the final seconds of the match.

STATS AND NOTES
  • Midfielder Giovanni Rivera paced the Green and White with three shots in 90 minutes.
  • Forward Khaled Daoud recorded one shot in 71 minutes, while accruing a pair of fouls in the XI.
  • Forward Ziv Dahan posted one shot in 80 minutes.
  • Off the bench, forward Marko Matesic posted one shot on target in 19 minutes.
  • Defender Max Asplin Rowley posted one shot on target in a full 90 minutes.
