Quron Elliott Posts Career High 12; Men’s Basketball Falls to Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, CT – The Manhattan Jaspers Men's Basketball team (8-11, 4-4 MAAC) fell to the Stags of Fairfield University (11-7, 3-4 MAAC), by a score of 98-62 inside Leo D. Mahoney Arena on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Getting things started on the evening was Fraser Roxburgh, who kept the opening Jasper possession alive with a offensive carom after a missed jumper from Marko Ljubicic. Devin Dinkins found Erik Oliver-Bush to open the scoring for the Green and White.
  • While trailing by four, Anthony Isaac found a lane to cut Fairfield's lead to just one possession.
  • In the first eight minutes, redshirt senior guard Brett Rumpel made his long-awaited return to competition for the first time in nearly two seasons.
  • Cutting the deficit down a bit more were the Jaspers, with the assistance of freshman guard Quron Elliott, who tallied his first jumper of the evening.
  • The Stags would go on an 18-1 run to log a double-digit lead heading into the locker room at the end of the first half.
  • Out of halftime, the Jaspers responded rather quickly with back-to-back baskets from Isaac and Roxburgh, before the Australian native added an additional two from the charity stripe to capture the first six of seven points in the second stanza.
  • Two minutes later, it was Elliott again to continue adding to his individual resume, before knocking down a much needed three-pointer.
