SEATTLE, WA – Manhattan Women's Volleyball (1-5) fell to the Titans of California State University - Fullerton (3-2) in straight sets (11-25, 17-25, 15-25) in their second day of action at the Courtyard by Marriott Seattle University Invitational on Friday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
· After the Titans got out to an early advantage 15-4 in the first set, a service ace from Katie Powers followed by a kill from Fiona VanDyke put the Jaspers back within single digits. VanDyke's four to end the set finished as the most for Manhattan.
· While Cal State Fullerton reached a double digit lead in the second set, a four point run for the Jaspers was capped off by two Hanna Kaczynska kills. She later finished with seven, upping her total to nine to that point. Manhattan cut the deficit to six late, but the Titans rattled off a pair of strikes to go up two sets to none.
· Back-to-back blocks by the Jaspers, with Helenn Montilla being a part of both, put the visitors back to within six early in the third set.
· Sarah Emmons assisted on key points for the Green and White down the stretch, but the Titans put on the finishing touch 25-15.
