Ahearn, McMaster Lift Women’s Soccer to Second Straight Clean Sheet v. Mount

RIVERDALE, NY – The Manhattan Jaspers Women's Soccer team (3-3-4, 2-2-0 MAAC) took down the Mountaineers of Mount St. Mary's (3-7-0, 1-4-0 MAAC) by a score of 2-0 from Gaelic Park on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Looking to build off its clean sheet away from Riverdale this past Wednesday, were the Jaspers, who came out firing on its home turf Saturday afternoon.
  • Just six minutes into the match, the Green and White posted a corner kick before Mount found a bit of rhythm but was stunted due to a pair offside flags.
  • In a stretch of eight minutes, Manhattan paced possession in their attacking third with five shots coming in that stretch, before the Mountaineers were able to escape the everlasting pressure the Jaspers were forcing.
  • In the 68th minute of action, it was junior forward Lauren Ahearn who received a perfect cross from Amaya Hill in the box and found the back of the net for the eventual match winner.
  • Just minutes later, officials checked VAR in attempt to determine whether the Mount had committed a foul in the 18-yard box. It was determined that the Jaspers would have an opportunity to post a second goal. Arancha Antunes was unsuccessful, and the match remained with a one goal lead.
  • The Jaspers put the final touches on the match with Olivia McMaster capping off a career day with a goal from Hill and Mayah Wheeler to capture its second conference victory of the campaign.
