RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Manhattan Jaspers Women's Soccer team (1-1-4) took home a draw Sunday afternoon against the Rams from Fordham (2-1-1) by a score of 1-1 at Gaelic Park.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Offensive opportunities came aplenty for the Rams, registering four shots in as many minutes to start the contest.
- Junior forward Amaya Hill capped off a counterattack to put the Jaspers on top early following a feed from Graduate Marlene Berlinghoff.
- Junior goalkeeper Molly Brunk thwarted all of Fordham's three shots on goal, including one from close range in the 37th minute.
- Manhattan's defense made its presence known, only allowing one shot to reach the final wall for over 35 minutes in the second half.
- In the 83rd minute, Fordham's Ava Giudice lofted a goal past Brunk to net the equalizer.
- Despite a shot on goal in the final minute from Hill, Manhattan was unable to break through once more, finalizing the draw.
STATS AND NOTES
- Fordham registered 21 shots to the Jaspers' seven.
- Molly Brunk saved six of the seven shots she faced, a new season-high for her first full 90 minutes on the pitch.
- Corner defense stood tall for Manhattan, stopping all six of the Rams' chances.
- Amaya Hill registered two of the Jaspers' three shots on goal, with the other coming from Junior midfielder Kaylee Stowell.
