RIVERDALE, NY – The Manhattan Jaspers Men's Soccer team (1-1) took down the Gothic Knights of New Jersey City University (0-0) by a score of 6-0 on Tuesday evening from Gaelic Park.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Jaspers returned to its home pitch for the first time since October 30, 2024, when Manhattan fell to Rider in its regular season home finale.
- Manhattan found the back of the net early with sophomore transfer Max Asplin-Rowley and captain Henry Hamilton finding freshman striker Martin Rodriguez to capture its first goal of the match just three minutes in.
- After an offside for Manhattan, the trio would recapture its magic a handful of minutes later with Hamilton and Asplin-Rowley finding Rodriguez for a second consecutive brace.
- Towards the latter portion of the first 45' off a foul from NJCU, sophomore midfielder William Fagerberg found Gregory Sprenkel off the set piece for his first goal as a member of the Green and White.
- Getting taken down in the box was Fagerberg, on a shot attempt by the sophomore, that resulted in a penalty kick, Henry Hamilton with the fake hesitation allowed his attempt to cross the goal-line for the teams' fourth goal.
- In a span of 34 seconds, the Jaspers grabbed an additional two goals from Martin Rodriguez and Thiago da Silva to post the teams' fifth and sixth goals of the match.
