Four in Double Figures Not Enough as Men’s Basketball Falls to Marist

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – The Manhattan Jaspers Men's Basketball team (4-6, 1-1 MAAC) fell to the Red Foxes of Marist University (6-2, 2-0 MAAC) by a score of 80-68 inside McCann Arena on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Opening the MAAC schedule on the right note were the Green and White, who put together a four-point victory over Fairfield just 48 hours ago.
  • Behind a turnover-filled first few minutes for the Red Foxes, the Jaspers were able to jump out in front courtesy of Devin Dinkins and Fraser Roxburgh's open jumper and layup to give Manhattan a 12-3 run.
  • The Jaspers forced Marist to take a timeout, which allowed the opposition to regather and post 13 straight points to retake the lead.
  • Stopping the bleeding was Terrance Jones, who found a driving lane to cut the lead to just one point.
  • Pulling the Jaspers within one minute later was Jaden Winston with a booming three-pointer to give Manhattan a one-possession deficit.
  • Trailing by two possessions for the second time in as many minutes, Marko Ljubicic sank home his first three of the afternoon.
  • Manhattan found its rhythm down the stretch of the first half by drawing a pair of fouls to send Dinkins and Jones to the line, who remained perfect, and tied the game at 30.
  • In veteran fashion and finding some assistance, it was a double-teamed Roxburgh who fed the ball to Ljubicic, from distance, sank a booming second triple to go ahead of Marist, before the Red Foxes tied the game with seconds on the clock.
  • Both teams traded buckets out of the locker room, highlighted by Ljubicic's third three-pointer, bringing Manhattan within two.
  • After another run from the Red Foxes, it was Anthony Isaac to stop the bleeding with a layup ever so slightly, before Marist launched another seven straight to eventually capitalize on its second conference win of the season.
