MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. – The Manhattan Jaspers women's basketball team (0-2), despite 12 points from Kristina Juric, fell to the Minnesota Golden Gophers (2-0) by a score of 99-36 inside Williams Arena on Friday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Colette Mulderig accounted for the first four Green and White points of the evening, converting on a pair of jumpers.
- Kristina Juric slipped past her defender front guarding late in the opening ten minutes, securing two points down low to cut the deficit to 15-10.
- Tatianna Collins and Juric helped the Jaspers grab four of the first six points in the second frame, with the former converting on a hook shot for the first points of her collegiate career.
- Mulderig and later Agar Farres Garcia used their inside presence to net 20 points for Manhattan before the halftime break.
- Brianna Davis got things going in half number two, as a spinning move in the paint netted some style points two minutes in.
- Elisa Sole Sanchez grabbed the final bucket of the third quarter, with three more Juric points from the stripe accumulating 30 for Manhattan headed into the final frame.
- Freshman Johlana Tatum joined Collins in scoring her first collegiate points, accounting for the first field goal in the fourth.
- Collins grabbed the final Jasper points of the evening, cutting off a stretch of 14 unanswered points by the Golden Gophers.
STATS AND NOTES
- Junior forward Kristina Juric finished as the lone Jasper to score in double figures, with 12 points off of four-for-eight shooting from the field.
- The Green and White netted a 50% shooting percentage in the second quarter, going five-for-ten.
- Juric and Senior guard Brianna Davis both accounted for all of Manhattan's four blocks, registering two apiece.
- Freshmen forward Tatianna Collins and guard Johlana Tatum both tallied their first buckets as Jaspers, scoring four each.
