HONOLULU, HI – The Manhattan Jaspers Men's Basketball team (2-2) fell to the Rainbow Warriors of the University of Hawaii (3-1) by a score of 86-56 inside Bankoh Arena at Stan Sherriff Center on Saturday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Jaspers looked to build off its opening game victory over Utah Tech on Wednesday evening with a nail-biting four-point win against the Trail Blazers.
- Opening the game with the icebreaker was sophomore guard Erik Oliver-Bush with a dunk down low, after Devin Dinkins fed the reigning NE10 Rookie of the Year a perfect pass.
- Following a brief run from the Rainbow Warriors, Dinkins took advantage of a bad pass from Hawaii and found Anthony Isaac, before Dinkins himself sank his first triple of the night to narrow the Bows' lead to just two possessions.
- The Jaspers kept it close as both teams were trading highlighted by Jaden Winston capitalizing off another Hawaii turnover.
- Starting the second half on the right note, were the Green and White, who were able to put its defensive prowess on display with a Winston steal that led to another Oliver-Bush dunk to open the stanza.
STATS AND NOTES
- Junior forward Anthony Isaac paced the Green and White with 17 points on eight-of-14 shooting from the field, that included four rebounds in 19 minutes on the floor.
- Redshirt junior guard Devin Dinkins added six points to his ledger on two-of-eight from the floor, while assisting on four baskets in 33 minutes of game action.
- Junior guard Jaden Winston logged six points that included a pair from the charity stripe in six total attempts, while assisting on three baskets in 32 minutes.
- Freshman guard Quron Elliott posted seven points on two-of-three shooting, and grabbed two rebounds, and assisted on one basket in 11 minutes.
- Freshman guard Omari Moore netted his first collegiate triple on a total of two shots from distance in six minutes.
