Weissman's First Half Score Lifts Women's Soccer Over Siena

RIVERDALE, NY – The Manhattan Jaspers Women's Soccer team (4-4-4, 3-3-0 MAAC) emerged victorious in its conference contest Saturday afternoon against the Saints from Siena University (5-4-5, 3-3-0 MAAC) by a score of 1-0 at Gaelic Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Lauren Ahearn registered the first shot on goal for Manhattan just five minutes in, with Siena's Cate Burns making the save.
  • After rattling around a corner kick from the right side, Josslyn Weissman connected on a shot with her left foot to put the Jaspers up 1-0.
  • Molly Brunk made her only save from the first half at the 34:22 mark, with Abby Daly's shot being stopped easily.
  • Samantha D'Angelo put more pressure on the Saints with her chance at the 37th minute before both teams headed to the locker room.
  • Just 31 seconds into half number two, Brunk grabbed another save from Siena's Catherine Rogers.
  • The best chance Manhattan had to double up came in the 76th, as Marlene Berlinghoff squared one off the chest of goalkeeper Burns with a follow-up chance from Mayah Wheeler getting blocked by a Siena defender.
  • Siena's last shot came with just under 10 minutes on the clock, as the Green and White were able to stave off any more offensive opportunities until the final buzzer.
STATS AND NOTES
  • Manhattan won the shot bottle 12-8, with eight of the Jaspers' chances going on-goal.
  • Both sides had their fair share of corner kicks, with Siena just edging out Manhattan 6-5.
  • Freshman midfielder Josslyn Weissman scored her first goal at Gaelic Park, after scoring on the road against Iona on September 24.
  • Junior forward Amaya Hill and Graduate midfielder Marlene Berlinghoff combined for four of the Jaspers' eight chances on target.
  • Junior goalkeeper Molly Brunk secured her third full-game shutout in 2025, tallying four saves.
QUOTES FROM THE JASPERS
