Riverdale, N.Y. — The Manhattan men's soccer team has released its 15-game schedule for 2024. The Jaspers will play seven non-conference opponents before navigating an eight-game MAAC schedule which welcomes two new teams into the fold.
"Like every year, we have set the bar really high in our non-conference segment to prepare us for the MAAC," head coach Jorden Scott said. "If you look over the last few seasons we have used those games to learn and grow as individuals and as a team. The growth in how to overcome adversity will become our greatest asset as the fall progresses, and with the new MAAC format every game has become even more important."
-Manhattan will open the season on the road at Fairleigh Dickinson (8/22), St. John's (8/29), and Seton Hall (9/1). The two meetings with Big East opponents mark the second straight season Manhattan will face off with a Big East team—3-0 loss at UConn last season—and the third time in the last six seasons such an opponent has appeared on the Jaspers schedule. Manhattan previously battled #22 St. John's and UConn during the 2019 season.
-Manhattan will host their first home game on 9/7 vs. LIU. The last meeting between the two programs back in 2022 saw the Sharks emerge with a 2-1 victory.
-Manhattan's homestand will continue with a battle versus Ivy League foe Columbia. The Jaspers have played the Lions every season since 2021, but prior to that went eight years without seeing each other on the pitch. Since 2021, both programs have engaged in fierce battles with one another, leading to two draws and one Columbia victory.
-Manhattan will conclude their non-conference slate on the road at crosstown rival Fordham (9/16) and Penn (9/21). Last season, the Jaspers experienced a 2-0 setback versus Fordham, but before that Manhattan had won three of the last four Battle of the Bronx installments.
-Manhattan will open their MAAC campaign at home versus Canisius on 9/28, kickstarting the eight-game conference slate which will conclude at inaugural MAAC member Sacred Heart on 11/6.
-The home tilt versus Quinnipiac on 10/23 will be the program's All Green Game.
-Manhattan will meet rival Iona on 11/2 in New Rochelle. The Jaspers were eliminated by the Gaels in the semifinals the past two seasons
-The MAAC Tournament for men's soccer will run from 11/10 to 11/17.
-The top eight teams qualify for the playoffs in the MAAC's brand new 13-team format.
-The home games versus Columbia (9/11), Mount St. Mary's (10/5), Quinnipiac (10/23), and Rider (10/30) will be streamed on ESPN+.
-More from Scott: "We can't wait to face the challenges ahead and push again to compete at the top of the conference."
