NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - The Manhattan men's soccer team concluded its season in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament semi finals this afternoon at Mazella Field. The Jaspers fell to host, Iona University, 1–0.
"We are all devastated by the loss that ends our season, said head coach Jorden Scott. "We battled through so much this year on and off the field and we stayed true to the values of who we are as a community. We are beyond proud of our seniors who now step into the next phase of their life and we will be there to support them every step of the way. Thank you to everyone who has, and continues to support this amazing program and we will be back next year to compete for a championship again. Go Jaspers!"
The lone goal of the game came in the first half off of a free kick. Manhattan goalkeeper Danny DiMarco managed to stop the ball from getting in the net on the first attempt, but it was kicked hard enough to bounce off of his chest, leading to a Iona player being able to tap the ball in on the second attempt.
The loss marks the second straight year that Manhattan has fallen to Iona in the conference tournament semifinals.
The Jaspers conclude their season with an 7-8-3 record. It is also the second consecutive season that the soccer team has finished the regular season ranked fourth or higher in the MAAC.
