RIVERDALE., N.Y. - Manhattan men's soccer fell to visiting Siena this afternoon at Gaelic Park, 3-2, in a Saturday afternoon MAAC showdown.
"We are disappointed in the way we lost the game today," said head coach Jorden Scott. "We started really well and lost our way at times. The second half could have gone either way and credit to Siena for coming back like they did. We have to clear our head and get ready for Wednesday against another top team."
Â
Nassim Akki scored the first goal of the match in the sixth minute after a nicely placed corner kick by Ayoub Boumemlala landed right in front of Akki to score the goal.
Â
Gunnar Studenhoifft crossed the ball to the right and Henry Hamilton connected with the ball for the slide goal along the right side of the net in the 15th minute.
Â
Siena (7-8, 7-2 MAAC) responded with two goals in the first half to make it a 2-All match at the break. The Saints then found the back of the net in the 55th minute to break the tie for the one-point lead which would hold for the gamewinner.
Â
Danny DiMarco made four stops for Manhattan, while Sebastiano Musu led the Jaspers in shots with three.
Â
Manhattan (6-6-3, 6-2-1 MAAC) will close out the regular season on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 2 p.m. versus first-place Iona.Â
