RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Manhattan swept this week's MAAC Baseball Weekly Awards.
David Bermudez collected player of the week honors, and
Jordan Warecke picked up pitcher of the week honors.
Bermudez slashed .526/.526/1.053 in a 3-1 week for Manhattan. The graduate student homered three times, including two on Sunday, in a series win over Fairleigh Dickinson this past weekend. The Manhattan shortstop drove in five runs and scored five more times while collecting 10 hits in 19 at-bats. Bermudez got a hit and scored in all four games last week for the Jaspers.
Warecke fired eight innings of one-run baseball at Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday. Over those eight innings, the graduate student struck out eight Knights, allowed one run, and only four base runners to collect his first win of the season.
Bermudez, Warecke, and the Jaspers are back in action Tuesday afternoon at Hofstra before visiting St. John's for three games this weekend.
