NEW YORK – The Manhattan women's track and field is fifth with 23 points after the conclusion of day one at the 2022 MAAC Championships.
The Jaspers picked up a pair of medals in the weight throw, with
Alexandra Preckajlo and
Nina Bjorkman finishing second and third.
Alexandra Caraher was fourth for the Jaspers.
The top five in the weight throw were within one meter of each other. Preckajlo's best was a 17.50m effort on her first attempt. Bjorkman hit 17.33m on her fifth attempt. Caraher posted 17.15m on her third throw, which is new collegiate-best for the freshman by over two meters.
Manhattan also scored points in the 5000m and the DMR.
In the 5k,
Andria Scaglione stopped the clock at 17:21.30 to finish seventh. The time is 20 seconds faster than her previous collegiate best.
Rory Graham,
Shayna Arrigo,
Nicola Scaglione, and
Grace Campbell teamed up in the DMR. The quartet finished seventh in a time of 12:49.90.
Monmouth paces the women's standings with 53 points after five events scored.
The second and final day of the 2022 MAAC Championships is tomorrow at The Armory. Events start at 5 p.m.
