Lawrenceville, NJ - No spectators will be permitted at the 2021 MAAC Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships that will be held at the Michael P. Brady Track & Field Complex on Saturday, May 8 and Sunday, May 9.
The decision was made by the MAAC and Rider in order to maintain a secure competition environment to ensure the health and safety of all participating teams and student-athletes. Due to the volume of student-athletes, coaches, staff and officials in attendance, state and local COVID-19 social distancing guidelines in place and limited seating capacity at the venue, the decision has been reached that no spectators will be permitted to attend.
Extensive safety measures have been put into place to adhere to state and local COVID-19 social distancing and contract tracing guidelines. As such, and with more than 800 student-athletes expected to be in attendance to compete, more space in the facility will be utilized for distancing the teams.
While it is unfortunate that the safety efforts will not permit spectators to attend this year's championships, Rider and the MAAC are proud to be offering fans the opportunity to watch most of the championship events via a combination of live and taped segments to be aired on either
ESPN3 or
ESPN+ (to be determined by the network) on Sunday, May 9.
