Softball To Face No. 6 Arkansas In Fayetteville Regional Opener

Riverdale, NY – The 2021 MAAC Champion Manhattan Jaspers have been selected to the Fayetteville Regional, and will open up play in the 2021 NCAA Softball Championship against No. 6 Arkansas on Friday, May 21 at 1:00 pm (EST) at Bogle Park.

The Jaspers will then square off with either South Dakota State or Stanford on day two of the four team double-elimination regional.

Manhattan won its first MAAC Championship since 1999 thanks to the dominating pitching of 2021 MAAC Championship Most Outstanding Performer Nicole Williams (GS, Ansonia, CT / St. Joseph's), as the Nutmeg State native was a perfect 5-0 in the MAAC Softball Championship going 2-0 in the quarterfinals and 3-0 in the championship round. She pitched to a 1.78 ERA in 35.1 innings over the course of the tournament with 42 strikeouts.

Williams was joined on the MAAC All-Championship Team by while senior Victoria Alonso (Stony Point, NY / North Rockland), sophomore Marika Deemer (Perrysburg, OH / Perrysburg), senior Emma Kindblom (Wilbraham, MA / Wilbraham & Monson Academy) and junior Annie Moore (Northridge, CA / El Camino Real).

The Razorbacks enter with a 40-9 record and most recently lost in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament to Tennessee.
