Edison, NJ - Manhattan freshman
Emily LaPointe (Staten Island, NY / Staten Island Academy) was named MAAC Rookie of the Week for the second-straight week, as announced by the league on Monday, February 3. This is the sixth time this season she has earned the honor.Â
LaPointe led the Jaspers with 18 points per game over two games this past week, adding 6.5 rebounds and two assists per game. In a come-from-behind win over Saint Peter's on February 1, she finished with a game-high 23, just a bucket off her career-high, after scoring 13 in the second half to help the Jaspers erase a 16-point deficit. LaPointe earned a steal and a bucket, as well as the game-tying three-pointer, while going 6-6 from the foul line down the stretch. She doled out four assists and added five rebounds, a steal and a block to her stat line in the game. At Rider on January 30, LaPointe again scored in double-figures (13), while pulling down a team-high eight rebounds.
LaPointe leads Manhattan with 12.9 points per game, ranking 11th in the MAAC. She's also fourth in MAAC for threes per game (2.2), and 14th for minutes played per contest (30.9).Â
Manhattan is back in action on Thursday, hosting Siena in Draddy at 11:00 am for Kids Day.Â
