Riverdale, NY - After averaging a team-high 12.5 points per game this past week, women's basketball freshman guard
D'yona Davis (Bronx, NY / Truman) has earned her third MAAC Rookie of the Week honor. This is the fifth time a Manhattan player has earned the weekly award so far this season.Â
Davis helped the Jaspers to wins over Fairfield (February 1) and Siena (February 3). In addition to her 12.5 points per game, she added three rebounds, 2.5 steals, and 2.5 assists per contest.Â
Against Fairfield on Friday, Davis scored a team-high 13. On Sunday she earned 12 points for Manhattan in the game, her fourth double-figure scoring game in a row. Davis had seven-straight points against the Saints in the fourth quarter to help surge the Jaspers' comeback win.
Davis first won MAAC Rookie honors earlier this season after leading the Jaspers with 18 points against Stony Brook on November 17. She earned the title again last week after averaging a team-high 11.5 points, including 13 as the Jaspers toppled Marist 69-51 on January 27. Fellow freshmenÂ
Kania Pollock (Queens, NY / The Mary Louis Academy) andÂ
Sydney Watkins (Wanaque, NJ / Saddle River Day) have both earned the title this season, as well.Â
Manhattan returns to the court Thursday, February 7, hosting Marist at 7:00 p.m. in Draddy.Â
