LaPointe Earns Second MAAC Weekly Honor

Edison, NJ - Manhattan women's basketball freshman Emily LaPointe (Staten Island, NY / Staten Island Academy) was named MAAC Rookie of the Week Monday, December 9. This is the second time this season she has earned the award. 

LaPointe led the Jasper offense against Fordham on December 5 with 13 points, shooting 4-9 from the field and 2-3 from three, while adding four rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block on the night. It was fourth time this season she has scored in double-figures and the third time she has led Manhattan in scoring.

LaPointe was first named the league's Rookie of the Week on November 25 after scoring a career-high 18 points against Villanova. She went 6-14 from the floor and 3-7 from three in her first collegiate start, finishing the game with nearly 43 percent shooting.

LaPointe is one of just two first-year MAAC players to earn the Rookie of the Week title more than once this season. The other is Niagara's Adia Brisker.

Manhattan returns to the court Friday, December 13 against Army at 7:00 pm in Draddy Gymnasium.
