Sanchez Added To Men's Soccer Coaching Staff

Riverdale, NY – Manhattan Men's Soccer Head Coach Jorden Scott has announced the addition of former Monroe College coach Edison Sanchez to the program's coaching staff ahead of the upcoming 2018 season.

"We are very excited to add Edison to our coaching staff after a thorough search and process," mentioned Scott. "I have known of him for some time and have always been impressed with his passion, energy and motivation for the game, which has helped his teams achieve the success that we expect for our program."

Sanchez joins Scott and first-year assistant Sean Reilly on the 2018 staff. He fills in for former assistant coach Evan Prybutok, who recently took an assistant coaching position at La Salle.

"I am elated to have the opportunity to work at such a great institution in Manhattan College," noted Sanchez. "Coach Scott has had a lot of success with the Jaspers and has done a great job in building the program. I am very grateful to work with him and the coaching staff and I am extremely excited to get started!"

Sanchez most recently served as the head coach for the Monroe women's soccer team. In his first season at the helm, the team finished the year ranked 16th in the United Soccer Coaches Junior College Division I Women's Poll. Sanchez led the program to a pair of wins against top-five NJCAA opponents in 2017.

Before leading the women's side, he previously held a position as an assistant coach with the men's soccer program. Heavily involved in recruiting, strength and conditioning, he guided the Mustangs to two National Championship appearances and three consecutive top 10 rankings in the NJCAA and NSCAA polls.

In addition to his assistant coaching responsibilities, he was also the head coach of the JV program. Under his tutelage, the team compiled a 16-1-1 record from 2014-2016.

Sanchez attended Monroe College in 2011, where he helped the Mustangs reach their first national championship in program history during a 14-2-1 campaign. He then transferred to Belhaven University in Jackson, MS, in 2012 and won a national championship with the Blazers in 2012. Sanchez also spent time in the New York Red Bulls organization, participating on the U-14 to U-23 teams.
