Edison, NJ - Three student-athletes from Manhattan's track and field program earned Performer of the Week honors from the MAAC Tuesday, nearly sweeping the league's weekly awards.
Freshman
Amahri Boyce (Newark, NJ / North Star Academy) was named Female Track Performer of the Week, while sophomores
Lasma Padedze (Ogre, Latvia / Ogre Secondary School No. 1) and
Anu Awonusi (Dublin, Ireland / Kilkenny College) earned both Field Performer of the Week awards.
Boyce won the women's 200-meter race at the Yale Season Opener on December 8 with a MAAC-best time of 25.39, good for her first collegiate victory. Boyce also placed second in the women's 60-meter dash with a personal best time of 7.8, which currently ranks second in the MAAC.
Padedze won the women's shot put at Yale with a personal best 14.81 meters, the best throw in the MAAC so far this season and an ECAC-qualifying distance. Awonusi took first place in the men's shot put, hitting a MAAC-best 17.78-meter throw and also setting a career-high in the event. Both Padedze and Awonusi will compete in the event at the ECAC/IC4A Indoor Championships in March.
Manhattan's season will continue January 11 at Fordham's Brian Horowitz Invite. The next day, the Jaspers will compete in the TCNJ Invitational at The Armory.
