PRINCETON, NJ – Three members of the Manhattan College track & field team were in action on the first day of the ECAC/IC4A Championships at Princeton University's Weaver Stadium on Friday. Lina Bengtson (Malmo, Sweden) finished fourth in the women's discus, while Amir Khaghani (Bethesda, MD) took eighth in the men's 5000 meters. Lisa Fajardo (Brooklyn, NY), meanwhile, contested the women's 5000 meters.
Bengtson gave Manhattan five points in the ECAC Championships with her fourth-place showing in the discus. Her best mark was 46.41 meters (152 feet, three inches). In the 5000 meters, Fajardo posted a time of 17:04.22 to place 18th overall. Khaghani, meanwhile, finished the men's 5000 in 14:25.95, which was good for eighth place and one IC4A team point.
The Jaspers have athletes entered in 10 events on Saturday, starting with Love Litzell (Ostersund, Sweden) in the IC4A hammer throw at 10 a.m. Saturday's field events are finals, while the track events are preliminary heats to qualify for Sunday's finals.
