PRINCETON, NJ – Lisa Fajardo (Brooklyn, NY) broke the Manhattan College women's outdoor track & field program record in the 5000 meters at Princeton University's Larry Ellis Invitational on Friday night at Weaver Stadium. She finished 11th overall in 17:03.97, nearly two seconds faster than Cheryl Simoni's time from 1988.
In the men's 5000, Amir Khaghani (Bethesda, MD) finished 10th in a time of 14:25.87. Kelly Gorman (South Amboy, NJ) was in the elite section of the women's 800 meters and recorded a 2:14.92 clocking, while Erin Spadaccini (Wilmington, DE) posted a time of 4:43.37 in the women's 1500 meters.
Love Litzell (Ostersund, Sweden), meanwhile, took second in the men's hammer throw with a season-best toss of 67.12 meters (220 feet, two inches). With that effort, he improved to 12th place on the qualifying list for the NCAA East Preliminary Round. In addition, Ryan Addlesberger (Cinnaminson, NJ) and Ire Bozovicar (Potoki, Slovenia) went 4-7 in the men's shot put. Addlesberger got out to a distance of 16.77 m (55'0¼), while Bozovicar's best mark was 16.23 m (53'3).
The Jaspers will have a handful of competitors in action on the meet's second day. Saturday's events get underway at 12 p.m.
