1992 Men's Indoor Track & Field
Sponsored by David Frazier '93 and Patrick McGrath '95

Twenty-five years ago, the 1992 Manhattan Men's Track and Field ran the table in the indoor circuit. The Jaspers were victorious in the Metropolitan and IC4A Championships, shocking opponents along the way with tremendous individual performances.

At the IC4A Championships, Manhattan dethroned three-time champion George Mason University, finishing the event with 64 points while the Patriots settled for second with 58 points.

Manhattan earned valuable points from David Frazier. The junior placed first in the long jump with a leap of 7.51 meters and second in the triple jump with a mark of 16.01 meters.

Frazier was not the only contributor. Senior Steve Agar edged out Notre Dame's John Coyle in the 3,000-meter race for first place, winning in 8:06.60. Sophomore Dwayne Wilson finished third in the 500-meter dash, junior Ed Kelly was fifth in the 1,000-meter race, and senior Matthew Love was eighth in the 55-meter hurdles at 7.56 seconds. In the 4 x 400 meter relay, Manhattan recorded a time of 3:21.77 to finish second, while George Mason was disqualified for passing out of zone.

The Jaspers also earned high marks in shot put and the 35-pound weight throw. In the former event, senior Thomas VanDemark was second with a 17.48-meter toss. In the weight throw, VanDemark registered 18.88 meters on his throw, good for fifth place and right behind teammate Patrick McGrath, who was fourth at 19.06 meters.

The squad was a force on the indoor circuit and their dominance that season is a testament to the strength and the longevity of Manhattan track and field.

The 1992 Men's Indoor Track and Field Team is proudly welcomed into the Manhattan College Athletic Hall of Fame.
