Edison, NJ – For the second week in a row, sophomore goalkeeper
Marcellin Gohier (Pouance, France / CENS) has been selected as the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week, this time for the period ending on October 8.
It is the fourth MAAC weekly award for a Jasper this season and the first time one player has earned a second honor.
Gohier recorded two shutouts last week as Manhattan defeated Saint Peter's and Monmouth. He nabbed five saves against the Peacocks and four versus the Hawks, including a diving stop in the 42nd minute to keep the game scoreless. He has not recorded four straight shutouts and has not allowed a goal in the last 445:22.
Statistically, he leads the MAAC with a 0.43 goals-against average, .909 save percentage and five shutouts. His save percentage ranks fourth in all of NCAA Division I while is GAA is seventh nationally.
Gohier and the Jaspers aim for their fifth straight win on Wednesday, October 11 when they travel to New Jersey to play the two-time defending MAAC champion Rider Broncs. Kickoff in Lawrenceville is expected around 7:00 pm.
