Hamden, CT - Manhattan Freshman Parker Giarratana (Delray, FL / Boca Raton Community) was named the 2016 MAAC Rookie of the Year while also earning All-MAAC Second Team honors with Dylan DeMuro (Yorktown Heights, NY / Archibishop Stepinac) joining his classmate on the All-Rookie Team.

Giarratana becomes just the third-ever Jasper to be cited as the league's top rookie and the first since Eugene Tanner in 2002 after collecting five MAAC Rookie of the Week accolades during a breakthrough first year on campus.
The Sunshine State native also became the first Manhattan student-athlete to earn All-MAAC recognition since a trio of student-athletes were selected following the 2009-2010 season. Giarratana ranked third in the MAAC with 2.07 goals per game and ninth with 0.87 assists each time out while becoming just the fifth Jasper student-athlete to notch at least 30 goals in a season, finishing up with 31.

DuMuro, a defenseman, played in 14 games, making eight starts, while registering 12 ground balls and seven caused turnovers.

Connor Flannery (Medford, NJ / Shawnee), classmate
Gian Noto (Jacksonville, FL / Creekside) and sophomore
Michael Zingaro (Cortlandt Manor, NY / Walter Panas) earned recognition on the 2016 MAAC Men's Lacrosse All-Academic Team.
To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.
