Ivana Kostic Earns Second Team All-MAAC Honors

FAIRFIELD, CT – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) held its annual Postseason Awards Show on Thursday night on the campus of Fairfield University, site of this weekend's MAAC Volleyball Championships.  Manhattan College senior middle blocker Ivana Kostic (Grocka, Serbia) was selected to the All-MAAC Second Team by the conference's 10 head coaches.

Kostic led the Jaspers and ranked fifth in the MAAC with a .306 hitting percentage.  She also averaged 2.26 kills per set, third-most on the squad, and paced the team with 0.73 blocks per set.  Kostic nearly had a double-double in Manhattan's five-set win over Quinnipiac on Oct. 22, finishing with nine kills and nine blocks.  She hit .500 or better seven times this season and had four matches where she didn't commit a hitting error.

Joining Kostic on the All-MAAC Second Team were MAAC Rookie of the Year Megan Fergus of Marist, Co-Liberos of the Year Lexi Millington of Marist and Rylee Hunt of Niagara, Veronica Koval of Rider, the Setter of the Year, Katlyn Tyler of Canisius, Niagara's Nicole Matheis and Siena's Kalehua Katagiri.  Fairfield's Todd Kress was named Coach of the Year, while the Stags' Skyler Day is the MAAC Player of the Year.

In addition, the members of the MAAC All-Academic Team were announced.  Eight Jaspers were recognized for their work in the classroom, second-most in the league.  Kostic earned a place on the MAAC All-Academic Team along with seniors Kelsey LaCour (Walnut Creek, CA) and Allie Yamashiro (Kapolei, HI); juniors Marissa Behrens (Honolulu, HI) and Mary Donnelly (Temecula, CA); and sophomores Olyvia Chaltas (Temecula, CA), Emilia Dronkert (Bainbridge Island, WA) and Alyssa Rehrer (Lorton, VA).  To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, student-athletes must have completed at least two semesters at their institution and possess and cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher.
