Derenoncourt Adds ECAC Performer of the Week Honors

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Senior Sheldon Derenoncourt (Patchogue, N.Y.) of the Manhattan College men's indoor track & field team, who was selected Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Track Performer of the Week on Tuesday, picked up another honor on Wednesday when he was named Corvias ECAC Division I Metro/Upstate Co-Performer of the Week.  He shared the award with the MAAC Field Performer of the Week, Monmouth's Taylor Bernstein.

At the NYC Gotham Cup on Friday, Derenoncourt qualified for the IC4A Championships in two events.  He ran the 500 meters in 1:03.24, the fastest clocking in the IC4A this season, to place fourth overall out of more than 70 competitors in the event.  Derenoncourt then led off the Jaspers' 4x400 meter relay squad that placed fifth in an IC4A-qualifying time of 3:19.45.

He becomes the second Jasper to be honored by the ECAC this season.  Blerim Pocesta (Staten Island, N.Y.) was recognized on Dec. 17.

The Jaspers return to action at a pair of meets this weekend.  Manhattan will send athletes to both Friday's Metro Team Challenge at the New Balance Armory Track & Field Center and Princeton's Tiger Open on Saturday.
