WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Manhattan College sophomore Christian Santisteban earned first team All-MAAC honors at designated hitter, the conference announced at Tuesday's awards banquet.
Santisteban batted a team-best .319 during the season with two home runs and 21 runs batted in. He led the MAAC in doubles with 17, which ranks 62nd in the nation entering this week's MAAC Championships. Santisteban reached base at a .396 clip and owned a .458 slugging percentage.
Santisteban had two hits or more in 16 games this season and his batting average dipped below .300 just once after February. During conference play, Santisteban batted .322 in all 24 games. He smacked 11 of his 17 doubles during MAAC play and belted a home run with 12 RBI.
The MAAC also announced the MAAC All-Academic team at Tuesday's awards banquet. Eight Jaspers made the All-Academic team, including Scott McClennan, Nick Girardi, Chris Kalousdian, Joe McClennan, Michael Scarinci, Casey Meyers, Chris Reynolds and Christian Santisteban.
Manhattan begins the 2014 MAAC Baseball Championships on Wednesday, May 21 against Fairfield at noon at FirstEnergyPark in Lakewood, N.J.
