RIVERDALE, N.Y. – After finishing one rebound shy of a double-double in the Manhattan College women's basketball team's loss at Towson on Saturday night, freshman center Kayla Grimme (Altoona, Pa.) has been named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Week. Grimme had a game-high 17 points while also grabbing nine rebounds in the contest.
Grimme went 8-for-13 from the field and recorded 10 of her 17 points in the second half. She also had an assist, a steal and a block in 37 minutes of action. Grimme has started both of Manhattan's games this season and leads the team in both scoring (12.0 ppg) and rebounding (6.5 rpg).
The Jaspers (1-1) conclude their season-opening three-game road trip with a 7 p.m. visit to Army (2-1) on Wednesday. Manhattan then begins its home schedule against La Salle (0-2) at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
