RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Coming off a scoreless draw with Monmouth on Wednesday night, the Manhattan men's soccer team finds themselves in fourth place in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Standings. The Jaspers (3-9-2, 3-2-2 MAAC) will look to increase their playoff chances on Saturday when they host Marist at 1 p.m.

Manhattan played strong and consistent defense in their previous matchup, denying the Hawks many scoring chances. Unfortuately for the Jaspers, they too were unable to find the back of the net despite multiple attempts from distance. Freshman goalkeeper Alex Coates McDowall made five saves on Wednesday night to earn his third shutout of the year. In conference play the rookie holds a 0.81 goals against average and an .824 save percentage.

Offensively, Daniel Laguna Kennedy continues to lead the way for the Jaspers with a team high seven goals on the season.  He is the first player since Fernando Londono in 2008 to register that many scores in a single season. Laguna Kennedy is also two shy of tying the program record for goals by a freshman, set by Walter Kotchin in 2002. Eugene Heerschap has registered three goals for the Jaspers while senior Daniel Festa has a team best two assists.

Marist (3-12-0, 2-5-0 MAAC) snapped a three match losing streak by defeating Siena on Wednesday night, 2-1. Tudor Brata scored the game winner in the 59th minute for the Red Foxes, giving them just their second conference win of the season. Steven Arraiano leads the squad with three goals and one assist Greg Davis is second on the team, totalling two goals and six points. Anthony Sokalski has played nearly every minute in net, holding a .718 save percentage.

In the last five meetings, the teams have battled to a 2-2-1 record. Manhattan has won the last two matchups, posting 1-0 victories each time. Following Saturday's match the Jaspers will go on the road for the final time this year when they travel to Iona on Wed., Nov. 6.
