Lindsey Loutsenhizer Recognized as MAAC Player of the Week

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - After leading the Manhattan College women's basketball team to a 48-44 victory over Marist on Saturday, senior forward Lindsey Loutsenhizer (North Huntingdon, Pa.) has been selected Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Player of the Week.  Loutsenhizer had a double-double in the win, tallying 17 points and 12 rebounds.

The double-double was her third of the season.  Loutsenhizer went 7-for-10 from the field against the Red Foxes, and her free throws with four seconds left sealed the win, as Manhattan handed Marist its first MAAC loss in 34 games.  In the Jaspers' first game of the week, Loutsenhizer notched 12 points and seven boards to go along with two assists, three steals and two blocks in a 56-53 win over Siena on Thursday.  She averaged 14.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in the two contests.

Loutsenhizer is the second Manhattan player to earn MAAC Player of the Week honors this season.  Sophomore guard Monica Roeder (Marlton, N.J.) was chosen on Nov. 21 after her 35-point performance against East Tennessee State.  In addition, Loutsenhizer was named MAAC Player of the Week by College Sports Madness, a website devoted exclusively to college sports.

This is the second MAAC Player of the Week selection of Loutsenhizer's career.  She previously earned the honor on Feb. 15, 2010.  Loutsenhizer currently leads the Jaspers and ranks seventh in the MAAC in scoring, averaging 12.6 points per game.  She also ranks eighth in the league with a team-best 6.3 rebounds per contest and is fourth in the MAAC in three-point percentage (.386).  Loutsenhizer is nine points away from becoming just the seventh Manhattan player with 1,300 career points, and her 734 career rebounds place her sixth on the Jaspers' all-time list.

The Jaspers (12-11) have won three straight and are currently tied for third in the MAAC with a 6-5 conference record.  Up next, Manhattan concludes a three-game homestand with a 7 p.m. matchup against Niagara (8-16, 5-7 MAAC) on Friday.
