2013 Manhattan College Softball Schedule
RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The 2013 Manhattan College softball schedule was unveiled today by Head Coach Tom Pardalis. The competitive 48-game slate includes tournaments at North Carolina A&T and Stony Brook, as well as the Jaspers' annual visit to the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Fla. Manhattan also plays eight home doubleheaders at Gaelic Park.
Manhattan's 2013 campaign gets underway in Greensboro, N.C., at the North Carolina A&T Invitational from Feb. 22-24. The Jaspers will take on Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) rival Canisius in a non-conference tilt to open the tournament, which also features Maryland Eastern Shore, Saint Francis (PA) and host North Carolina A&T.
After the opening tournament, the Jaspers will have two weeks off before beginning their home schedule with a doubleheader against St. John's on March 13. Two days later, Manhattan heads to Long Island for the Stony Brook Tournament (March 15-17), where the Jaspers will meet Yale, Providence and Holy Cross in addition to the host Seawolves. Manhattan is then scheduled to play six games against Albany, Columbia and Green Bay during the Rebel Spring Games (March 18-21) before staying in Florida for a neutral-site doubleheader against Cornell on March 23.
Upon returning north, Manhattan kicks off a season-long six-game homestand with a twinbill against Columbia on March 26. After hosting a pair against Fairleigh Dickinson on April 3, the Jaspers open their MAAC schedule with a home doubleheader against Saint Peter's on April 6. Manhattan then makes the short trip to three-time defending MAAC champion Iona on April 7 before hosting Rider (April 13) and visiting Fairfield (April 14) the following weekend.
The Jaspers take on Albany in a twinbill at Gaelic Park on April 16, then hit the road for six straight. Manhattan heads to Western New York for MAAC doubleheaders at Canisius (April 20) and Niagara (April 21) and travels to Wagner for a pair on April 24.
Conference play, as well as Manhattan's home schedule, comes to an end with Marist (April 27) and Siena (April 28) visiting Gaelic Park. The Jaspers then conclude the regular season with a pair of non-conference twinbills in Connecticut. Manhattan takes on Sacred Heart on April 30 before ending the season at future conference foe Quinnipiac, which will join the MAAC in 2014, on May 4.
The top four teams in the MAAC at the end of the regular season qualify for the 2013 MAAC Softball Championships at Marist's Gartland Field from May 9-11. Manhattan is looking to get back to the MAAC Tournament after missing out in 2012.
