MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. - The Manhattan men's golf team won their first tournament of the 2012-13 season over the weekend, taking the Nyack College Fall Classic with a combined score of 617 in the two-day event.
Paul Toohey, who competed as an individual golfer, won the individual title with a combined score of 147 after posting a 73 on Sunday following his 74 on Saturday. Senior Matthew Creamer finished just behind his teammate with a 149 to take second as he again was the low shooter for the Jaspers.
After an opening round 74, freshman Michael Giannico finished his tournament with an 83 on Sunday while Jonathan Feuer posted a total score of 152 after shooting rounds of 75 and 77 on the weekend, finishing in a tie for third.
Chris Calabro and Mike Schutsky both competed in the event, each finishing with a 166 score as Manhattan won the team title by 10 strokes over the host school, Nyack College.
The Jaspers will enjoy a brief respit from play before finishing their fall schedule the weekend of Oct. 20 at the 2012 St. Barnabas Intercollegiate to be held in Chatham, N.J. at the Fairmount Country Club.
