RIVERDALE, N.Y. - For the second straight week, Manhattan College freshman guard/forward Monica Roeder (Marlton, N.J.) has been named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Week. Roeder averaged 16.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in two games last week.
In the Lady jaspers' 63-47 victory over Iona last Monday night, Roeder notched a game-high 19 points on 7-for-15 shooting (46.7 percent) while also pulling down seven rebounds and handing out a career-high four assists. She followed up that effort with a 14-point, four-rebound performance in Manhattan's 60-42 loss at No. 24 Marist on Friday. Roeder went 4-for-10 (40 percent) from three-point range against the Red Foxes. She currently ranks third on the team in scoring, averaging of 8.7 points per game.
This marks the fourth time this season Roeder has been honored by the MAAC. She also took home Rookie of the Week honors on Dec. 13 and Feb. 14, and was named MAAC Player of the Week on Nov. 15.
Third-place Manhattan (19-7, 11-4 MAAC) begins the final week of the regular season at second-place Loyola (16-10, 13-2 MAAC) on Monday night. Manhattan's final home game will be on Friday night at 7 p.m. against Fairfield (17-9, 10-5 MAAC).
